Cisco has extended its distribution relationship with Melbourne-based distributor, Multimedia Technology, to encompass its full range of small business and SMB products.
Cisco director of partner operations, Michael Lehmann, said the arrangement allowed it to reach a different list of resellers servicing the SMB community.
Cisco’s other local distributors are Ingram Micro, Express Data and Westcon Group.
Multimedia has been distributing Linksys-branded products since 1998. Following Cisco’s purchase of Linksys in 2005, the vendor re-confirmed the relationship across both its consumer and small business offerings. The distributor was again allowed to retain its Linksys distributor status after Cisco integrated the product range into its own portfolio in 2008.
Multimedia managing director, John Hassall, said it was now upgrading its systems capabilities to support the new product portfolio. The focus was on assisting dealers to deliver solutions and fulfil projects, he said.
Cisco has been making steady moves to bolster its small business and SMB offerings and released a new range of Small Business Pro IP gateway and camera products at its Partner Summit in June. At the same time, it launched a Small business Partner Accelerator aimed at improving channel profitability.
The networking giant also announced the first Cisco Small Business Technology Group to focus on the SMB segment last year.
