ARN's sister publication in the US, InfoWorld, has published a list of survival tips for Web integrators after yet another integrator fell by the wayside.
Web integrator MarchFirst suffered resignations from both its CEO and COO last week, after laying off 1000 staff in one month and posting a $US73.2 million loss in one quarter. Last week also saw struggling consultancy group Cambridge Technology Partners bought out by Novell.
Meanwhile, Big Five consulting giants continue to feast on market opportunities, evidenced by airline booking behemoth Sabre's decision to outsource its IT to Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in a $US2.2 billion deal.
In Australia, Web integrator XT3 has dramatically cut staff, while the Australian office of Sapient closed altogether, dumping 70 staff. The analyst-compiled survival guide recommends Web integrators scale back on excessive marketing strategies, focus on one particular niche and avoid very short or very long customer lists.
