HP expands recycling initiative to consumers

HP Planet Partner program will now cover all customers who take end-of-life equipment to drop off points

Consumers and SMB customers now have access to HP’s Planet Partners program.

An extension of the vendor’s commercial and enterprise customer service, the program allows consumers to dispose of their end-of-life HP products for free.

Drop-off locations for the program will be initially located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, the central coast, the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

The vendor will facilitate the recycling of the equipment collected, and then use the materials in the production of a range of new products.

HP environmental manager, South Pacific, Kok Wah Boey, said the program was similar in nature to the Victorian Byteback initiative, which the vendor also supports.

“There’s the potential to expand the program to include more drop-off points, but we also need to see how the program will fit in with the national e-waste scheme when it comes into play,” Boey said.
