Micro Focus Launches ReUZE™ at Microsoft WPC

New high performance, low cost solution supports customer choice in moving Enterprise Applications to the Windows platform

<p>Mountain View, CA — July 15, 2009 —
Micro Focus® (LSE.MCRO.L), a leading provider of enterprise application management and modernization solutions, today announced a new high performance, low cost solution for customers who have decided to migrate business processes from the mainframe onto the Windows platform and want to retain the competitive advantage through the re-use of the enterprise applications running the business today. Micro Focus ReUZE™ offers organizations the fastest route to utilize mainframe application functionality on Windows and within the .NET framework. It is specifically designed to integrate simply and easily with the breadth of familiar development and deployment products available from Microsoft, operating as the platform for further modernization and cloud-based initiatives.
“This solution is targeted at customers that have already made the decision to use Windows as their primary platform for business processes, yet have mainframe COBOL applications that deliver significant value and competitive advantage today,” said Stephen Kelly, CEO at Micro Focus. “Micro Focus enables those investments to continue to add value at very low cost, optimizing the benefits in the shortest amount of time and avoiding the risks associated with rewriting or replacing critical business systems.”
With contemporary Visual Studio based Integrated Development Environment, Micro Focus ReUZE™ Developer will enable customers to take advantage of improved developer productivity, cross team collaboration and dramatically improved application lifecycle management with integration with Visual Studio Team System. Building on this solid framework, Micro Focus ReUZE™ Server is designed to fully exploit 64-bit Windows architectures, while supporting the highest level of compatibility with existing application platforms. Unlike other solutions which insist on rewriting mainframe application data sources for SQL Server, or removing mainframe syntax from programs, the Micro Focus solution typically leaves the source code unchanged, thereby reducing costs, risk, and delivering the highest levels of performance and reliability.
This integration with the Microsoft Application Platform enables customers to extract the maximum value from their enterprise applications, removing the requirement for customers to re-write or replace valuable COBOL applications, at a time when companies look to increase business efficiency and reduce costs.
“Our number one priority is to help customers realize the most value from their existing IT assets and move into tomorrow with complete confidence,” said Eddie Amos, general manager, Developer Tools and Platform Business, Microsoft Corp. “Micro Focus has been a pivotal partner in helping to change the application modernization landscape by reducing costs, improving development processes and providing greater choice for mainframe customers.”
