Ingram Micro has joined the board of industry representative organisation, Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), with Terry Dunn from the distributor’s NZ branch becoming a director.
SNIA chairman, Craig Scroggie, said the appointment was made to strengthen its presence in NZ, as well as access a broader audience.
“Ingram Micro will provide us with a lot of reach with regard to the reseller community,” Scroggie said.
“We’ve been holding a seat open for the past six months while we’ve been looking for the right person to join the board. Dunn’s appointment means that we now have a full board.”
Aside from raising awareness another major priority for Dunn will be to help SNIA provide professional development to customers within the reseller community.
“Providing networking opportunities for the industry is one priority, but providing a larger pool of qualified professionals is just as critical,” Scroggie said.
“We’re still seeing a very strong demand for skills in the industry.”
SNIA claimed last year that there had been a doubling of certified professionals in the industry since August 2007.
In March, Express Data also announced it had joined the non-profit organisation. It was the first distributor to do so, although it doesn’t occupy a seat on the board of directors.
