Insight nabs former Commander contract

The software reseller will be the sole Microsoft product supplier to the whole of the Victorian Government

Software reseller, Insight, has secured a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA) contract with the Victorian government.

Following a formal tender process, the company has become the sole Microsoft software supplier to nine core Victorian government departments. This also extends to various administrative offices and public sector agencies. The agreement also includes a centralised help desk which will provide services including technical support, training for government staff and Software Asset Management (SAM).

An Insight spokesperson said the company had taken over a contract left by ICT integrator, Commander (ASX: CDR), which went into receivership last August.

According to a press statement, Insight was awarded the deal due to its demonstration of thorough knowledge of the Victorian government IT infrastructure in the company’s tender submission.

Insight senior vice-president, Andrea Della Mattea, in the statement, said the collaboration was an integral partnership for the company as public sector is an important strategic segment of its business that is experiencing continued growth.

The reseller refused to disclose the value of the deal. The contract began in April and runs till March 30, 2012.
