HP has appointed Jeff Healey as BladeSystem business manager for South Pacific.
In this newly created position, he will be focused on aiding customers and partners to drive strategic investments in the blade ecosystem.
“We are taking a holistic view of where we are and where the market is going,” he said. “That includes not just servers but storage, networking and software.”
Healy will also concentrate on educating channel partners to propel blade systems uptake.
“It is easy for some vendors to assume their partners have a lot of skill and knowledge that may or may not exist,” he said. “We want to understand where their skill levels are at in terms of blade in relation to sales, technical architecture and post sales within the channel community and invest more in educating them.”
While Australia’s server market was dour in the first quarter of the year, Healy remains optimistic about the blade.
“The proportion of blade sales to standard rack mount sever sales is always increasing,” he said. “If you look at the latest figures from IDC, in any given country, the penetration rate in terms of blade adoption is around 10 per cent."
Healy also saw increased opportunities for blade systems with small-to-medium businesses (SMBs).
“The benefits of blade really does start at the SMB level,” he said. “They have quite complex infrastructure requirements and we are seeing this as a trend.”
