Ricoh goes for speed and power

The disconcerting thing about digital cameras is that annoying delay that often occurs when taking a shot, but Ricoh will this month release what it claims is the fastest digital camera in its class. The Caplio RR30 has a shooting response time of 0.22 seconds and includes three continuous shooting modes to capture up to 16 shots in two seconds. The 3.34 megapixel camera features a 10.2x zoom and 8MB of internal memory. Users can instantly view their photos through an LCD display. The camera also addresses the ongoing battery-life problem that is associated with many digital cameras by incorporating a long-life rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Conventional AA batteries can also be used.

The RR30 will carry a retail price of $799.
