Software developers ease Y2K fears

Over the next two years end users, distributors and resellers will spend bucketloads of money trying to solve their year 2000 conversion problems. But a simple floppy disk costing less than $50 or a free download from the Net is all that could be needed to combat the year 2000 issue.

The disk, made by Simcom Enterprises, a small Brisbane-based team, is designed to diagnose any computers that could be affected by the year 2000 bug and alert end users so that they can take early remedial action. Users can also use the disk to test up to 10 secondhand or new hardware products before purchase to ensure they meet compliance standards.
