ASUS reveals new U and UX notebook series

Vendor shows off ultra-slim luxury notebooks

Asus has taken the wrappers off its slim U and UX notebook series.

Both lines show off a thinner and brighter LED widescreen display, with the U series featuring an illuminated keyboard. Integrated Light-in-Motion functionality automatically adjusts brightness according to ambience.

With a contoured casing and glossy finish, there is also a strong emphasis on style. Speaking at the product launch in Sydney, Asus notebook product manager, Albert Liang, said the series is designed for people with a taste for luxury but at an affordable price.

Convenient application operation is made possible with Express Gate technology which boasts an eight second boot-up time for access to the Internet and frequented programs.

The notebooks also have built-in Web cams, 802.11 wireless and Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth and HDMI ports.

Entertainment is high on the agenda for the product lines which are embedded with NVIDIA GeForce G 105M graphics cards for bolstered multimedia performance.

The 12.1-inch U20 and 14-inch U80 retail for $1999. The 15.6-inch U50 and UX50 carry a price tag of $1499 and $1999 respectively.
