Sony is ramping up its PC offerings, announcing three new VAIO notebook models aimed at the mobile multimedia market.
The new products, from the multimedia and video editing PCG-Z505 series to the PCG-FX770K, incorporating a Pentium III 650MHz processor and Windows 2000 operating system for business applications, are designed to expand Sony's product offerings beyond the consumer arena.
The notebooks can also be upgraded for components such as hard drives, Pentium IIIs and batteries.
The notebooks are designed to bridge the gap between business applications and digital video and multimedia capabilities. To this end, Sony has bundled a suite of multimedia software including digital video editing software MovieShaker, DVgate and PictureGear with the new notebooks.
The new offerings will be available from February 14 and will retail for $3799 for the FX770K Vaio model, and $4999 for the Z505GAH model with the Windows Me operating system.
