Seagate unveils FreeAgent Theatre home media player

FreeAgent Theatre allows consumers to stream their digital memories and movies through virtually any TV set

Hard drive vendor, Seagate, has released a media player for TV sets.

The FreeAgent Theatre is a HD media player that users connect external hard drives or UBD flash drives to for streaming music, video and photos to any TV set.

It supports a small variety of formats (notably not including .ACC, meaning iTunes users will have to convert their music files to a friendly format), and offers a number of features including photo slide show, zooming functions in photos and video and support for the 1080i video format.

Users can also dock a Seagate hard drive into the FreeAgent to create a stylish entertainment unit for the lounge room.

Designed to be easy to use and friendly for inexperienced users, the FreeAgent costs $199, and will be distributed by both Ingram Micro and Synnex.
