CommVault continues channel refresh with new sales unit

Storage vendor hires a new channel manager and creates a sales team to improve channel relations

Storage vendor, CommVault, has continued efforts to refresh its channel, creating a new sales unit and making a number of new hires.

The vendor has appointed Gemma Noakes as its new channel manager. In her new role, Noakes will be initially responsible for ramping up the vendor’s channel play with the creation of an internal sales unit.

“The goal is to increase the customer experience for our partners,” Noakes said. “We’ve hired four new people, in addition to myself, to be the first line of partner engagement.”

CommVault will make further hires with the goal of doubling the team in the next 12 months. The team is servicing the entire Asia-Pacific and Japan region, so as the team grows, individuals will also be assigned to focus on specific regions.

The vendor has made a number of investments in its channel recently, beginning with the formalisation of a reseller program, and followed by the creation of a managed services program.

Noakes said the overall refresh of the channel program was to improve the vendor’s enablement of, and communication with its partners.

“We’ve not had an overly strong engagement with the channel community, so we’re looking for ways to improve that,” she said.

“CommVault has been very successful in this region, but we wanted to take it to the next level. This refresh also aligns us with what we’re doing overseas.”

Noakes added the vendor saw the economic conditions as an opportunity to push a cost savings message to find business, and will be talking with partners around that area.

Previously the country manager for Data Domain, Noakes said she was attracted to the role at CommVault having worked with the vendor previously with one of its partners.
