Symantec has reshuffled its channel ranks to drive innovation and focus on its national partners, as well as the SMB space.
The vendor has promoted senior partner manager, Jeff Arndt, to head up the national partner team. Arndt has been with Symantec for three years, initially as a business development manager. He has experience across the vendor and channel landscape including stints with HP and Kaz.
Symantec partner director, David Dzienciol, said Arndt’s responsibilities will include managing the day-to-day partner account staff, as well as strategic management of national, Platinum and Gold channel partners including Data#3 and HP.
“Jeff has a lot of knowledge around channel partners and a very good grip on what we need to do to continue building that group,” Dzienciol said. Arndt replaces Brad Newton, who will now be responsible for Symantec’s enterprise and mid-market business across NSW and Queensland.
“Brad has been running the partner team and delivered fantastic growth – this is an opportunity for him to grow his own skills,” Dzienciol said.
Symantec has also created a SMB and distribution sales director’s role to better align its strategies across these areas. Former mid-market manager, Steve Martin, who has been with the vendor for four years, has taken up the new position.
“Our distributors don’t just serve SMBs – they also serve up to our largest partners. But 100 per cent of our SMB business is through distribution,” Dzienciol said. “It made sense to bring these groups together under one leader and drive our SMB and distribution initiatives. If we can leverage the horsepower with distribution and resellers to service SMBs, we can continue to be a trusted advisor in that market.
“Steve is a proven leader and has achieved great results for us. He’s familiar with our channel and distributors and brings more focus to developing our SMB business.”
Dzienciol said the management realignment coincided with its new financial year on April 1.
“The new financial year gives us the opportunity to look at what we’ve achieved over the previous year and make some changes,” he said. Symantec would also continue to invest in its overall channel resources and still had several positions open, Dzienciol said. The vendor has invested in additional headcount in the last 18 months.
“We are becoming closer to the partner community, who are willing to work more collaboratively to service customers,” he added.
