HP takes the wrappers off ProBook notebook line

The new notebook series is aimed at business users

HP has broadened its notebook portfolio with the introduction of its ProBook line of machines.

Joining the EliteBook line of business notebooks, the ProBook line consists of four models of notebook and starts at $919. The units have a raft of features including wireless connectivity, variable screen sizes from 14-inch to 17.3-inch, and the option of having either Windows or Novell Linux installed.

In a release, market development manager of commercial notebooks, Janet Bradburn, said the notebooks were aggressively priced to target the SMB space, with a combination of presentation and features to make them an attractive purchase.

A number of custom HP software applications will come with the notebooks including HP QuickLook 2 software to provide easy access to email, calendar, task and contact information, and File Sanitiser for HP Protect Tools for data security.

The notebooks also come with an EPEAT silver rating and are Energy Star qualified for energy savings. HP claims that, by weight, 90 per cent of the notebooks are recyclable or recoverable.
