Expanse IT completes integration deal with OMV

The systems integrator has finished the deployment of Riverbed Steelhead appliances for the oil exploration company

Systems integrator, Expanse IT, has upped the communications capabilities of oil exploration company, OMV.

The integrator used Riverbed Steelhead 2020 and Riverbed Steelhead Mobile Control (SMC) on an OMV New Zealand-based oil field deployment project, which started in 2008, to combat communication problems between its 150 AN/Z staff.

“We approached OMV in around October last year to try and solve its business problems,” Expanse IT senior engineer, Mike Nye, said. “Due to the nature of its business, the company’s far spread consultants were having delays on their network which slowed productivity."

Expanse IT sales and marketing director, Malcom Cole, highlighted the company’s specialist expertise as a factor in winning the OMV account.

“We are different to most reseller companies because we are a reseller and specialist integrator focusing on a limited amount of products,” he said.

OMV Australia IT manager, Peter Zuzula, said the system implemented by Expanse IT has so far proved reliable. Expanse IT could not disclose the value of the deal.
