New state IT minister likely

In the wake of the NSW election, the IT industry is set for a ministerial change.

It is believed that former IT minister Kim Yeadon will be replaced in a shuffle of the Carr Government’s cabinet, making room for Kerry Hickey, MP for Cessnock.

The parliament is still in caretaker mode and, according to a parliamentary source, an official announcement of the change may not be made until Monday.

Yeadon's office would not offer an explanation for the change.

A spokesman that no comment would be made until after the announcement and the Premier's decision was made public.

Hickey made his way into the parliament in 1999 after a spell as President of the Newcastle Milk Vendors Association.
