Switchvox SMB is a feature-rich, cost-effective IP-based PBX system designed for SMBs, according to Digium. It supports fax, chat and video calling, as well as web-aware capabilities that enable integration with online and back-offi ce applications, turning the phone system into a unified communications (UC) platform. Switchvox SMB is based on Asterisk open source telephony software, and has advanced, easy-touse administrative features, the vendor claims. Version 4.0 includes closer integration with several communications methods and the web. Switchvox Windows desktop client that provides interaction with Microsoft Office applications. pop-up notifi cations to show incoming caller details and call history. A one-click options let users quickly add Outlook contacts and dial phone numbers. Its XML-based API, Switchvox Extend, lets administrators create new extensions and access call logs, reports and extension lists. Version 4 also comes with more call options including support for basic rate interface (BRI), and high-quality wideband audio delivered via the G.722 protocol.
