Manson to lead Canon channel marketing

Craig Manson takes on the position of senior general manager as the vendor continues to reallign strategy to target broad channels with its product line

Craig Manson has been appointed Canon’s senior general manager of marketing as part of the company’s realignment initiatives.

The vendor announced plans to merge its business and consumer divisions in February, as part of an overall goal to be more customer and channel focused.

“The goal is to give customers a greater reach of products across Canon’s product range,” Manson said. “Previously our different customers and channels have lacked access to some of the things we offer other groups – we want to open that up.”

Manson said his initial focus would be to bring the vendor’s marketing together across the entire business, and for it to become a more customer and channel focused company, rather than a product focused one.

“When this role came up I saw it as a great opportunity. I believe marketing will play a key role in the formation of Canon going forwards,” he said.

Manson was previously the managing director of Canon NZ, a role that has been replaced by Mike Johnson who has become the vendor’s country manager in the region.
