US-based on-demand security service provider, Zscaler, has set up a presence in the Australian market and is looking for resellers.
To head up the local arm of the organisation in Melbourne, John Martens has been appointed as country manager. He was formerly the general manager of IronPort.
Zscaler offers on-demand subscription-based security services from its Global Cloud Infrastructure that is accessed via nodes called ‘Internet On-ramps’. Zscaler has already installed its first pair of nodes in Australia and the vendor is targeting its services at all types of organisations from the SOHO space right through to large enterprises and telcos.
“We look at per seat costs and don’t just provide URL filtering and antivirus, but also Web 2.0, browser control and bandwidth optimisation,” Martens said.
The security provider has up to eight partners in Australia including Generation-e and Perth-based Communications Australia.
Martens said he was looking to increase the company’s reseller numbers.
“We’re offering high margins and part of the reason we can do that is because we don’t have a distributor layer,” he said. “Our resellers will be from the top end down through to telcos and ISPs selling this service as well.”
As part of a partnership, resellers can receive sales and system engineer certifications and also implement the cloud service to further enhance their training and use it as a demonstration for customers.
“It’s important to build our partner community - that’s the model that makes sense,” he said.
