Marlene Gant has moved out of distribution and into vendor land, joining Asus as its national retail manager.
As reported in February, Gant left Simms International after a tenure of a year, stating that she was looking for a change in perspective. Previously, she was with Ingram Micro in its consumer division.
Asus’ retail presence is substantial, thanks in part to its EeePC line of netbooks, where it shares a market dominance with rival vendor, Acer.
The company recently announced plans to hike the price of its EeePC lineand will restructure its business in the area and reduce the number of different versions of the flagship product that it takes to market.
At the time of going to press, Gant was unavailable to comment on her new position, and whether she has replaced anyone in that role.
