LEGO named Xbox game developer

LEGO, the maker of children's building-block toys, announced Wednesday that it has been named a game developer for Microsoft's Xbox game console.

The two companies said in a joint statement that they are planning a number of cooperative ventures. LEGO is already providing content for Microsoft's MSN Kids channel, LEGO products will be advertised and marketed on Microsoft sites, and the toymaker will integrate Windows Media into new versions of its LEGO Studios line of movie-making products.

The Xbox, Microsoft's first entry in to the game console market, was introduced last week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
