Telstra has signed on as the first reseller in Australia/New Zealand of Lotus Development's 'Everyplace' messaging product, offering a WAP-based service that allows users to access their company's domino servers via WAP-enabled handheld devices.
The service allows Telstra customers with Lotus Domino-based infrastructure to access information services such as mail and calendering on handheld devices such as mobile phones and personal digital assistants.
The Domino Everyplace server product, which allows for WAP access to Domino content, was officially launched in August 2000, and is already being used by telcos in several European countries. According to Lotus Development's product marketing manager, Jane Morris, this is the first reseller agreement for its use in Australia. Australian representatives of Lotus Development were unable to disclose the financial terms of the Telstra arrangement nor the expected price for the service.
The Telstra reseller partnership was officially announced at the Lotusphere conference in the US. At the conference, Lotus placed the majority of its emphasis on announcing a series of Knowledge Management products developed for browser access which it expects to drive further enterprise adoption of the Lotus Domino system.
