Minolta-QMS has added another distributor to its ranks, appointing Sydney-based Kawaura & Co to handle its complete range of consumables.
Kawaura joins CHA and Siltek in supplying Minolta-QMS products to the channel. The company operates out of the Sydney suburb of Camperdown, but managing director Kaz Kawaura said it supplies customers from all over the country.
"We have customers around Australia -- in Darwin, Alice Springs and Western Australia."
In the past, resellers and dealers have found Minolta-QMS's consumables supply to be lacking. The company is targeting the problem by adding Kawaura as an additional supplier.
"It was getting to a point where the distributors were not holding enough consumables stock," said Minolta-QMS marketing communications manager Therese Tarlinton. "Kawaura has 3000 products in his range, so he knows the market and has done it all before.
"CHA and Prion will continue to stock the total Minolta-QMS range. This is a second source."
The company is about to embark on an extensive advertising campaign, leveraging off consumer awareness of the Minolta brand. It is also on the brink of announcing a new call centre and spare parts distributor.
"We have been dealing with consumables for 12 years and handle all the biggest printing products," Kawaura said. "In the past there were set busy times. For example, it would be busy before Christmas and quieter after New Years. These days that logic is not applicable. The last two or three years have been very unpredictable.
"There has been a hiccup in the consumables supply in the past year but that won't happen with us, bar overseas problems beyond our control."
