Mytek, the company that earlier this year launched a service offering for new PCs, will offer its 24-hour support service to Dick Smith customers who purchase a system from any Dick Smith Electronics, Tandy or Dick Smith Powerhouse retail outlet.
For an annual membership fee, Dick Smith customers will be able to sign on for Mytek's unlimited support service. Mytek then uses its MytekAssist software to take a reference image of the PC system for later reference if there is a problem.
Mytek has been in talks with the retailer for the last six months. "They consider it a real value-add and differentiator in the market," said Mytek managing director Alex Hartman. "Store managers can bear the brunt of IT support, but they don't need it. So instead of being bounced from vendor to vendor, the customer can just ring us. We want to keep customers coming back to the retailer by maintaining a good user experience."
The offer will be available on full-margin PCs.
Mytek is also building a name for itself in networking, finding increasing business in the review of company networks. "It's a market we are starting to explore more," Hartman said. "We are looking at bundling our services with ADSL boxes and getting resellers on board."
