Telstra phones in SecureNet for online security

Australian Internet security software company SecureNet has dialled up Telstra to provide an ASP style e-business security service to corporate and government customers.

Using Telstra's carrier network and a secure environment within a Telstra building, SecureNet will enable customers to effectively outsource their e-commerce transaction security requirements.

The facility, called SecureNet's Australian Trust Centre, is designed to overcome cost impediments faced by companies attempting to provide a secure e-commerce environment in-house.

"To date, the cost to businesses of providing a high standard of transaction security themselves has been one of the major impediments to uptake of e-commerce applications within Australia," Gerry Sutton, Telstra's emerging business executive director.

With SecureNet providing the software and technical know-how, Telstra is coming to the party with the infrastructure as well as lending its name and reputation as Australia's incumbent carrier.
