Software development is new sweet spot

Software development is a growth area in Australia, according to the folks at event management company Consensus who are busy organising the 2001 Software Awards.

Consensus has received a 50 per cent rise in entries on last year, with 27 nominations for this year's awards. Julian Day, managing director of Consensus, said the quality of submissions has also increased substantially on previous years.

All nominations, finalists and winners are posted at www.consensus. Entries have been submitted by well-known developers, such as Fujitsu Australia, Presence Online and Syrinx Technologies, as well as a number of smaller development houses.

The awards are sponsored by the IBM Software Group.
