Polycom QDX 6000

The Polycom QDX 6000 video conferencing solution provides organisations with real-time, face-to-face interaction and the ability to share work including spreadsheets, presentations and images, or physical items like barcodes, envelopes and products through a variety of high-resolution peripherals (such as a PC, DVD player or document camera). The solution encompasses a camera, codec device, audio and multiple video inputs and outputs. The camera can screen high-resolution video calls starting at 256kbps bandwidth, or across public Internet connections. The Polycom QDX 6000 is based on established video conferencing standards and will interoperate seamlessly over 1.5 million standards-based video conferencing systems in use today including DVD-quality, high-resolution video at 30 frames per second (4CIF or 480p). It also features high-definition stereo audio, multimedia content-sharing capabilities (H.239) and AES encryption. The solution comes with Polycom’s Lost Packet Recovery (LPR) technology that optimises video quality over IP networks and helps ensure a great user experience even on networks prone to IP packet loss and congestion.

Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB

The Caviar Green makes use of third-generation GreenPower technology and provides 2TB of storage space. Designed for use in USB, FireWire and eSATA external hard drives, desktop computers, workstations and desktop RAID environments, WD claims it offers a number of advanced technologies which provide speed, capacity and performance. They include: StableTrac, which secures the motor shaft at both ends to reduce system-induced vibration and stabilise platters for accurate tracking during read and write operations; IntelliPower, which fine-tunes the balance of spin speed, transfer rate and caching algorithms designed to deliver both significant power savings and solid performance; and IntelliSeek, which calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise and vibration. The drive also features NoTouch ramp load technology, which aims to ensure the recording head never touches the disk media, resulting in significantly less wear to the recording head and media, as well as better drive protection while in transit.

Extreme Networks Summit X650

This switch is designed with the same ExtremeXOS operating system and SummitStack stacking technology available across Extreme Networks’ switch portfolio. The new purpose-built, 1 Rack Unit (RU) switch addresses high capacity network aggregation and “top of rack” datacentre requirements, efficiently collapsing servers and supporting high-speed, 10 Gigabit interfaces. The X650 provides high-density 10 gigabit Ethernet within a single rack unit with up to 32 10 Gigabit ports on a single system. It also supports SFP+, the latest small form factor transceiver technology enabling high-density 10GbE network connectivity, as well as IPv4 and IPv6 unicast and multicast routing. The switch provides layer 2/3/4 throughput of up to 363 million packets per second (24-port 10GbE wire rate), or 506 million packets per second (with VIM1-10G8X) and supports the carrier-grade Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching protocol. It has an internal redundant AC/DC power supply and a replaceable fan tray with front-to-back cooling to ensure high availability.
