The WebEx Connect platform provides the framework to merge collaborative applications with business software. The WebEx Connect Developer Community also allows users to get the tools and “connectors” they need to create two-way integration between any application over the on-demand WebEx Connect Marketplace and collaborative WebEx Connect client. All WebEx applications are delivered on-demand. These include widgets for Internet browsing, address book, bulletin boards, profiles, calendar, library management and RSS reader. NEC Application Net
The NEC Application Net has been developed as a one-stop-shop providing all services and applications that an SMB needs to run its business, delivered via an on-demand model. The Application Net suite incorporates three services: Software-as-a-service (Software Net), telephony-as-a-service (Voice Net) and platform-as-a-service (Hosting Net). The suite can integrate access to a range of applications such as CRM, accounting, project management, email and collaboration software, with unified communications and telephony services, via a single portal with a single monthly fee. NEC has 15 independent and nonexclusive third party providers signed up including salesforce.com and Sugar CRM. NEC provides a single sign-on portal with telephony integration across everything, allowing users to access unified communications simply and easily, it claims. In addition, NEC’s portal provides a system for users to store and manage their contacts centrally, enabling them to keep their contacts regardless of the application they are using. Hosting Net is also the vendor’s brand for virtual server hosting based on a VMware platform.
