Cisco WebEx Connect

According to the vendor, WebEx Connect allows users to instantly connect and collaborate with remote colleagues across locations and time zones. It can be used to share ideas and make informed decisions on the spot, boost productivity using virtual workspaces with shared documents, contacts and discussion threads, customise and integrate business applications without the IT cost and minimise IT investment with an affordable, zero-maintenance hosted solution. The WebEx Connect platform provides the framework to merge collaborative applications with business software. The WebEx Connect Developer Community also allows users to get the tools and “connectors” they need to create two-way integration between any application over the on-demand WebEx Connect Marketplace and collaborative WebEx Connect client. All WebEx applications are delivered on-demand. These include widgets for Internet browsing, address book, bulletin boards, profiles, calendar, library management and RSS reader. There is no upfront investment, and no maintenance or upgrade costs. It has been designed to be easy for users to implement and scale to suit changing needs.

ShoreTel ShoreWare Call Manager

This unified communications application suite includes ShoreWare Personal Call Manager, ShoreWare Professional Call Manager, ShoreWare Operator Call Manager and ShoreWare Mobile Call Manager. Each application enables users to collaborate and communicate via video, voice (wired or wireless) or IM. According to the vendor, ShoreWare Call Manager provides easy licensing, set-up, flexible features, telephony and IM control, integrated advanced call management, quality desktop video and a customisable interface. Highlights include the ability to find and connect employees fast, utilise instant messenger and open up more opportunities to communicate, manage voicemail and contacts through Microsoft Outlook, conduct clear person-to-person video calls and most importantly, keep mobile workers reachable, anytime, anywhere. On-the-go workers can manage voicemails, lookup corporate contacts and change how their calls are treated based on their current status. Features include advanced call and voicemail management, audio conferencing, workgroup agents, office anywhere and softphone capabilities, and Microsoft Outlook integration.

NEC Application Net

The NEC Application Net has been developed as a one-stop-shop providing all services and applications that an SMB needs to run its business, delivered via an on-demand model. The Application Net suite incorporates three services: Software-as-a-service (Software Net), telephony-as-a-service (Voice Net) and platform-as-a-service (Hosting Net). The suite can integrate access to a range of applications such as CRM, accounting, project management, email and collaboration software, with unified communications and telephony services, via a single portal with a single monthly fee. NEC has 15 independent and nonexclusive third party providers signed up including salesforce.com and Sugar CRM. NEC provides a single sign-on portal with telephony integration across everything, allowing users to access unified communications simply and easily, it claims. In addition, NEC’s portal provides a system for users to store and manage their contacts centrally, enabling them to keep their contacts regardless of the application they are using. Hosting Net is also the vendor’s brand for virtual server hosting based on a VMware platform.
