Keytech and 3Com win Carpet Call IP telephony upgrade

First engagement with the retailer for integrator Keytech, which is looking to build its presence in the space

Retailer, Carpet Call, has selected 3Com and integrator, Keytech, to roll out a new IP Telephony solution.

Carpet Call chose the 3Com VCX platform in order to consolidate its network infrastructure. The rollout will initially be implemented across headquarters in Queensland and WA to be later expanded across Carpet Call offices and stores nationally.

The move came after the retailer decided its 10-year-old PABX system was not equipped to support the company’s current needs.

Keytech sales account manager, David Murray, said it was a significant win for the integrator, as IP Telephony was a relatively new field for Keytech.

“It’s a great win for us considering the profile and size of Carpet Call,” Murray said. “IP Telephony is now an issue for the IT industry, and not without its struggles, but we saw it as an opportunity to expand on our offerings and access new accounts.”

The implementation is open to ongoing support and upgrades, Murray said, and the Carpet Call relationship is a new one for the integrator.
