Express Data’s Ray Lee and 11 other cycling enthusiasts recently participated in the Oxfam Challenge, a 400km cycling adventure covering the Yunnan Province, China.

In the lead up to the event, Lee held a series of dinners and a classic rock night and raised close to $8000. The funds went towards Oxfam Australia’s work with poor communities across 29 countries.

During the week-long event, cyclists trekked through mountains, small villages and the Tiger Leaping Gorge. After their last hard climb they indulged in a hot spring pool.

“The whole experience, from the first decision to participate, the fund-raising and the actual cycling itself, taught me a lot about life and what can be achieved with good preparation and determination,” Lee said.
