Apple bits into G4 notebook price

Apple has announced significant cuts to the recommended retail price of its Titanium PowerBook G4 notebooks in a bid to be more competitive in the market.

Apple has slashed the 500MHz model by $1000, bringing the price to $6495, while it cut $500 off its 400MHz model, taking the price to $4995. However Apple officials affirm the cuts will not impact resellers' margins, with wholesale prices dropping accordingly.

The PC manufacturer touts the Titanium G4 notebooks as the "ultimate" portable video editing system when bundled with Apple's own iMovie 2 editing software.
