Ingram Micro will carry Citrix Access Essentials in its first engagement with the vendor in Australia.
Access Essentials is a Web-based application delivery solution aimed as SMB customers which allows them to remotely and securely access their Windows-based applications.
Ingram Micro general manager, Stuart Ellis, said the distributor’s strengths in Microsoft solutions made Citrix Access Essentials a good fit.
“Access Essentials is closely linked with Microsoft products, so Citrix approached us in lieu of that,” Ellis said. “We felt it was a good opportunity, and it was important for us to have a relationship with them.”
Ingram Micro will focus on Access Essentials rather than seek to broaden the Citrix portfolio at this stage, he said.
The sale of Access Essentials does not require certification. Ingram Micro will conduct training events through the year for resellers and Windows partners, and will leverage its Microsoft business to drive the solution into the market.
“Our Microsoft relationship and business is as strong as it has ever been,” Ellis said. “We’re excited about the partnership and have the necessary resources to put into it.”
itX general manager, Greg Newham, said the partnership will not have any effect on the partnerships Citrix has with its existing distributors.
“It’s an entirely new product for Australia, and only targets the very low end of the market. Citrix didn’t want the product to bleed into the corporate space, and it’s not our target market,” he said.
In a release, Citrix channel development team manager, Dean Vaughan, said the vendor felt Ingram Micro was well placed to reach the Microsoft SMB partner community.
