Niche security distributor, Aquion, has made a rash of new vendor signings.
The risk and compliance specialist distributor has brought on Skybox Security, Shavlik, and Altor Networks, a virtualisation security vendor.
Aquion general manager of sales, Audrey Lyon, said virtualisation security was an emerging area of interest.
“Economic pressures on people are making virtualisation an attractive option, but difficulties with securing those environments has been inhibiting the uptake,” Lyon said.
The addition of the three new vendors brings Aquion’s ‘strategic’ partner total to 10. The distributor maintains three tiers of vendor partners, the other two being ‘opportunity’ and ‘acquire’. Overall 20 vendors are on the books, with strategic partners being the highest tier.
“Most of our technology partners comply with the PCI standard, meaning we can sell solutions either individually or in combination,” Lyon said.
“We’re not really looking for any further vendors at present, though we are close to signing a couple more.”
Aquion’s main goal for 2009 will be to grow by focusing on its existing partners and install base.
“We’re going to have to work harder in the economic climate, but there is still money out there and opportunities in security,” Lyon said. “We’re going to be making a bigger marketing and awareness push as a result.”
