Microsoft has launched a new application for its Dynamics AX offering as it seeks to help its mid-sized customers practice sustainability.
The Environmental Sustainability Dashboard for Microsoft Dynamics AX enables customers to collect information relating to energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Microsoft senior product manager of Dynamics, Jenifer Pollard, said the Dashboard was an opportunity for partners, as it allows them to create new practices to differentiate themselves from the competition.
“We have plans to add more applications to the Dashboard, with the next release to be in 2010,” Pollard said. “Further, partners can easily customise the Dashboard with their own applications to better suit the customers they’re delivering to.”
He said the Dashboard was one of a number of initiatives Microsoft was undertaking around environmental sustainability.
“We’re looking at Microsoft’s own footprint, working to partner with NGO and Government agencies to address the issue, and looking at software made throughout Microsoft and how we can add to it, or use it, to help customers and partners address their own footprints,” Pollard said.
Microsoft also offers other software, such as power management tools, and unified communications solutions that help customers to bring down travel costs.
“We want to offer our partners a large number of options to help them address these issues,” Pollard said.
