RSA ramps up channel investment

Vendor makes new hires as it seeks to increase its investment in its channel partners

RSA Security is ramping up its channel investments with the hiring of Phil Teague as its new general manager of channels.

After seven years with EMC – parent company of RSA – running its Dimension Data business, Teague transferred to the role at the beginning of the year.

RSA country manager, Mark Pullen, said Teague had a large mandate this year to refresh its channel.

Within the first 90 days of his new role, Teague will focus on meeting with key partners and building a stronger structure.

“We need to ensure that our partners understand how they can use our products to improve their business but also help their customers,” Pullen said.

RSA channel manager, Gavin Jarvis, will manage its distribution business with Express Data and focus on adding more value to the reseller channel, he said.

“He will run them from a strategic perspective, because we figured that Express Data is such a big partner of ours that they needed to have full time attention,” Pullen said.

Technical enablement manager, Philip Owen, has also joined the RSA team. He previously worked for education company, Excom.

“He’s a technical instructor and he’ll be taking our reseller and partner integrator base through our certifications,” Pullen said. “We’re going to really invest in making sure the knowledge gets out of the RSA warehouse and into the partners.”

In Australia, RSA has 45 employees and Pullen plans to add more channel-orientated staff throughout the year to provide more focus on its 100-strong reseller base including Loop Technology, Dimension Data, Alphawest and Bridge Point.
