Retail security vendor, BullGuard, has signed Cellnet as its second Australian distributor.
The ASX-listed distributor (ASX: CLT), which recently underwent a change in leadership, will take the European vendor’s mobile and Internet solutions to its retail and telco resellers.
BullGuard sales manager, Bronwyn Gascoigne, said Cellnet should prove a complementary fit to its other distributor, Saratoga Distribution, which is a software-only player with a strong regional presence.
“There could still be some gaps in the market, but for now we think we’ll have the right coverage,” Gascoigne said.
BullGuard is hoping to leverage Cellnet’s reseller network with revenue sharing incentives for users that renew subscriptions.
“We think resellers are looking for a new product at the moment, and as we’re offering 40 per cent revenue share from renewals for our channel, we’re hoping to appeal to a wide network,” Gascoigne said.
Cellnet general manager of product development and procurement, Julian Phua, said Cellnet selected BullGuard for its portfolio as it complemented its category focuses.
“It’s a good security product across telco, retail and gaming sectors,” Phua said. “We didn’t have a security vendor, and felt there was a good opportunity with BullGuard as the other common brands already have representation.”
He said Cellnet had no other security vendors in the pipeline, but was looking to expand its product range as the opportunity arose.
A number of other software vendors have recently moved from a single distributor model. Both Quark and AutoDesk have taken on an additional distributor to Scholastic Media and Technology, and appointed Simms International and Express Data, respectively.
