NOTES FROM THE FIELD: Don't worry, be happy

Something about Amber's brave recovery from her leg wound touched me, and I made a decision to try harder. If she could carry on with such optimism, I figured I could do the same. I started out with some flowers and then made sure to clean up around the house. "What's gotten in to you?" Amber asked one night, smiling and giving me a big hug. "I'm not sure," I said.

AMD moves

Although Advanced Micro Devices warned last week of lower-than-expected revenue for its second quarter, the company has by no means been thrown off its game plan. Amber and I went out to a movie (Spider-Man), and when we returned, we found Apache had gotten into the kitchen trash bag and had spread the contents over the floor. "You go get ready for bed. I'll take care of it," I said, and got down on my hands and knees. I was a happy man, right?
