Simms International retail director, Marlene Gant, has resigned after just under a year in the role.
Gant said she needed a change of perspective after 10 years in distribution. She joined Simms as a director in February 2008.
“I thought working at a smaller distributor after Ingram Micro would reinvigorate me, but I found the work was similar, so I began putting the feelers out in December of last year,” she said.
Simms managing director, Danny Moore, said Gant had built strong foundations for its retail division during her tenure, and the company was not looking to find a replacement in the near future.
“We’ve got a strong retail senior management team, so there are no gaps being left there with Gant’s departure,” Moore said. “We’ve got a sales staff of approximately 20, the bulk of which are focused on our consumer division. The retail division is going strong for us and we’re looking to add more vendors to our card this year.”
Gant was unable to comment on her future.
