Alcatel-Lucent has appointed Andrew Butterworth as managing director of the company’s Australian operations.
Following the return of his predecessor, Hilary Mine, to the US, Butterworth had been serving as acting managing director since December and has now formally taken on the role. He was previously vice-president of the telco's Service Business Group in Australasia.
According to Alcatel-Lucent, Butterworth will be tasked with driving growth across the company’s key markets - service providers, enterprise, and selected verticals through technology leadership in IP, optical, mobile and fixed broadband applications.
Butterworth joined the company in 2005, and will be based in Melbourne. He will report to Sean Dolan, Alcatel-Lucent's president of the Asia-Pacific and China region.
Butterworth was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
