HP ProCurve has announced a new multi-vendor alliance and product series aimed at providing customers and partners with a better integrated networking platform.
The Open Network Ecosystem (ONE) multi-vendor program lets channel partners offer a choice of network applications and services from alliance vendors including Microsoft, Avaya, McAfee, F5 and Riverbed. Applications are tested and certified to ensure interoperability with ProCurve’s new ONE Services zl Module, which is a blade for the ProCurve 5400zl and 8200zl switch series.
“An objective of the ProCurve ONE alliance was to ensure that we do the work for our customers and assist our channel partners in pulling together those best-in-class pieces, so that you don’t compromise on the functionality of your business needs, the cost effectiveness or the openness of the solution,” HP ProCurve global sales and marketing manager, Mark Thompson, said, at a launch event in Sydney. “The foundation of this alliance is to take the intelligence that we’ve distributed through the network and use it as our customers and channel partners see fit to deploy it for a particular customer environment.
“It’s not a one size fits all, you pick the parts that work in your network, build them on a common operating environment and deploy it, knowing that everything’s been tested.”
In Australia, ProCurve has approximately 60 channel partners.
“Our next step is letting the channel partners know about the business opportunity for them and letting customers know about the choices they have,” Thompson said. “So many customers out there still believe there’s only one choice in the networking market.”
The vendor has also launched its Data Centre Connection Manager software that provides automated provisioning of server and network resources in traditional and virtual environments. HP also added five new 6600 series switches which aim to reduce energy consumption and includes a reversible airflow system. The new products will be available from its distributors, 24/7 Distribution and Ingram Micro.
