StorageTek And Sun Extend Commitment To Deliver Automated Tape Solutions To Customers Worldwide

<p>SYDNEY, Australia -- July 1, 2004 -- StorageTek® (Storage Technology Corporation, NYSE:STK), the proven provider of the foundation for information lifecycle management (ILM), today announced completion of a strategic OEM partnership agreement with Sun Microsystems. Under the agreement, Sun will market and sell StorageTek's StreamLine™ SL8500 under the StorEdge brand, as well as StorageTek's L-700e and L-180 tape libraries.</p>

<p>The agreement gives StorageTek more access to Sun's 6,000-strong sales professionals and opens up new joint marketing and selling opportunities. For enterprise customers that require bullet-proof back up and recovery capabilities for mission-critical-data, StorageTek and Sun now have the opportunity to provide the ideal solution to address the consolidation of enterprise and midrange computing infrastructures. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.</p>
