Simms International has signed an agreement with Italian-based accessory vendor, Tucano, in an attempt to broaden its PC market reach.
Tucano produces a range of PC bags and backpacks with a focus on fashionable designs.
Simms International sales and marketing director, Gavin Troxler, said the partnership gave the distributor additional bundling opportunities in both its Apple and PC channels.
“It’s a well respected and fashionable brand in Europe and the US,” Troxler said. “We also carry STM’s line of bags, and we see the two products running side by side while targeting different markets.”
Tucano had been available through Apple stores previously, Troxler said, but the partnership with Simms would be the first exposure the vendor has had outside of those stores.
Simms was not looking to form further new partnerships in the immediate future, Troxler said. Its immediate goal was to consolidate its start to the calendar year.
“The sales and back-to-school promotions that the vendors are having has kept us very busy,” he said.
Tucano sales development manger Asia-Pacific, Alber Lin, said in a statement that the vendor felt Simms’ access to Apple resellers and relationships with mass market retailers made the distributor ideal for expanding its market penetration
