Dimension Data has secured the extension of an arrangement with the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) to deploy Riverbed appliances.
The system integrator will deploy a range of Steelhead appliances, as well as the Steelhead Mobile client acceleration software, at 101 distributed sites across NSW. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
DiData general manager of connectivity, George Atrash, said the network upgrades were part of a good first quarter for the integrator.
“We’re unsure of how the market will react to the Cisco price rise, but the datacentre business is growing well,” Atrash said.
“We do a lot of performance and WAN optimisation business with Riverbed as organisations look to replace aging infrastructure.”
Formerly known as the Department of Conservation, DECC comprises four organisations – National Parks and Wildlife, the Environment Protection Authority, the Botanic Gardens Trust and parts of the former Department of Infrastructure Planning and Natural Resources NSW.
In a statement the DECC said it was looking to address poor connectivity issues at its more remote sites through the extension of the DiData / Riverbed relationship.
