Extreme Networks appoints Simon Barnard as Country Manager, Australia and New Zealand

<p>SYDNEY. Jan 13, 2008 -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) has announced the appointment of Simon Barnard as Country Manager, Australia and New Zealand. He has 21 years’ experience in Sales and Marketing, backed by an Honours degree in Engineering.</p>
<p>Barnard moved from Nextgen Networks, owner/operator of Australia's third largest fibre network, where he was Sales Manager Corporate and Government - Southern Region.
Initially an Aerospace engineer in the UK, he has held significant sales and sales management roles in NEC, Lucent and Cisco Systems.</p>
<p>His experience with large, complex network solutions, for both carriers and enterprise organisations equips him for his role at Extreme Networks.</p>
<p>Barnard said: "In the current economic situation organisations need to ensure they select high quality suppliers that can deliver significant total cost of ownership (TCO) benefits, and this is a precise fit with Extreme Networks’ capabilities, which I will be promoting vigorously."</p>
<p>Despite the economic slowdown Extreme Networks’ ANZ operations are in expansion mode. The company plans to double its staff complement within weeks. The first priority will be an additional Sales Engineer.</p>
