Enterprise briefs: Ehyou, Web21, Handisoft spends up

ASX-listed Internet company has completed its sixth acquisition of a small Web-hosting firm, in its quest to grow the customer base of its Web-hosting subsidiary,

The company has purchased Ocean Internet for an undisclosed sum, again primarily to gain access to new clients for its business.

The acquisition of Ocean Internet is the sixth such Web-hosting buy for, which has acquired quite a taste for Web-hosting firms worth under $1 million. It follows the acquisitions of, iAsiaworks, Domains N' Servers, Ice Blue and Moniker.

Chief executive officer Dominic Carosa said is cashed-up to the tune of about $5 million to make further acquisitions in the Web-hosting space.

Web21 plays host

Web development house Web founder Kristian Page has started a new company called which has been set up to host Web sites for large corporate clients. technology director Michael Huynh said the Web developer decided to bring its client's data in-house and provide hosting services on top of the design services it already provides.

Huynh said the company has invested in nine high-end servers and has the capacity to take on large enterprise clients.

HandiSoft collects unhappy accountants

Local software developer HandiSoft has pulled more than 400 angry accounting firms clear of the IT channel over the last six weeks, the result of frustrating technical problems in competing financial packages.

In order to smooth the transition to a new application, the vendor's HandiTax software comes with a "rapid migration" function that converts live data directly from MYOB's taxation suite.

HandiSoft claims the impact to the channel has been minimal as this type of software is mostly self-installed.
