Australian companies will have to wait to participate in a HP zero per cent financing program announced in Europe during the week.
Media reports this week suggested Australia is part of a plan announced at the HP Software Universe 2008 user conference in Austria to offer zero per cent financing for deals on some software products greater than $100,000.
However, a HP spokesperson told ARN the program – which offers zero per cent lease financing for qualifying customers of its Business Technology Optimization and Information Management software through HP Financial Services – was at this stage restricted to Europe and the US, and that Australian companies are unable to participate.
The spokesperson said plans for Australia had not been finalised and companies would not be able to participate until further announcements were made.
The official HP press release lists Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the US as participating markets.
Several large vendors such as Microsoft, Cisco and IBM have offered financing incentives in recent months in an intensifying trend to combat the credit squeeze afflicting the market.
