Trade show marriage

Austrade has come to an agreement with Hannover Fairs Australia that will see the two organisations work together to promote Australian exporters taking part in future CeBIT trade shows. A subsidiary of CeBIT organiser Deutsche Masse, trade show specialist Hannover Fairs Australia will manage the sales, logistics and construction of the Australian national stands, while Austrade will provide the marketing and promotions support. Deutsche Masse already manages the logistical support of the US and Taiwanese stands at CeBIT under similar arrangements. Hannover Fairs Australia has already managed to secure 700 square metres of floor space for CeBit's trade shows for the next five years - double the space currently allotted to Australian companies.

Lotus changes name

IBM subsidiary Lotus Development is "moving away" from its former name and is now known as the Lotus Software Group, according to an IBM spokesman. The change is part of IBM's "ongoing integration" of Lotus, according to spokesman Joe Stunkard, who said the name switch does not signal any radical changes at Lotus. "They continue to be one of the four major brands within IBM Software," he said. Stunkard said he could not comment on whether Lotus Development is being dissolved as an independent legal entity.
