Microsoft has appointed a new head to its Australian Platform and Developer Evangelism (DPE) group.
Gianpaolo Carraro is replacing Norbert Haehnel, who has moved to Germany to head up the vendor's public sector education team.
Carraro said his initial points of focus were to communicate the early adoption programs for the vendor's new products, and to engage with partners and customers to help them understand the large ecosystem of Microsoft and its benefits.
"I see a lot of opportunity in Australia. It's a mature market that is willing to embrace technology," he said. "Microsoft is embracing its software plus services strategy, so I'll be explaining the model to the industry and helping its adoption.”
Carraro will head up a team of 27, which involves a mix of backgrounds, both technical, sales and marketing oriented.
"We've got a fairly good sized team at the moment, so there's no immediate plans to add to that number," he said.
