Exabyte will ship its latest Linear Tape Open (LTO) auto-loader, the Magnum20 LTO Tape Library, in September. The Magnum20 packs up to 8 IBM LTO tape drives and 148 Exabyte LTO cartridges into a 20u rack-mount space, which Exabyte claims is the highest automation density in the industry. The Magnum20 features include 8-way partitioning, remote management and direct fibre channel attachment. Set to meet the capacity, performance, and budget requirements of mid-range to enterprise-class users, the Magnum20 library has a storage capacity from 100GB to 29.6TB (compressed) and a data throughput rate from 54GB per hour to 864GB per hour. Pricing for the Magnum20 begins at $34,500 with a cost-per-terabyte of less than $1,100. The Magnum20 is distributed in Australia by ACA Pacific (03 9674 8188), Datastore (07 3274 6377) and Digital Tape Solutions (02 9496 1111).www.exabyte.com.
